The Navigator 5.4 Sail Trainer is a highly maneuverable, compact rigid inflatable boat designed by KND Naval Design to serve as a dedicated support and training vessel for sailing operations. Built with a robust GRP planing hull and a minimalist open console superstructure, this lightweight craft features a length overall (LOA) of 5.4 meters, a beam overall (BOA) of 2.36 meters, and an exceptionally shallow draft of 0.15 meters. It operates with a maximum full-load displacement of 0.69 tons and carries both CE and Bureau Veritas (BUREAU VERITAS) classification certifications alongside HPi CE proof. Tailored strictly for short-duration day missions, the boat accommodates a crew complement of 2 pax with a designated endurance basis of a single day at sea.
The vessel’s performance is driven by a single outboard propulsion arrangement featuring a recommended installed power of 1×60 hp. This efficient configuration allows the nimble craft to reach a maximum speed of 43.5 knots and maintain a steady cruising speed of 32.3 knots. At cruise, the propulsion system reports a fuel burn rate of 39 liters per hour, drawing from a compact 66-liter fuel tank to deliver an operational range of 194 nautical miles. To maximize deck space and weight efficiency, the boat carries 0 liters of fresh water, holds 0 liters of waste water, and completely foregoes heavy internal amenities like an onboard generator or air conditioning system.
Operating on a 230 VAC and 12 VDC power supply supported by a recommended 420 Ah house battery, the onboard electronics are streamlined for essential day-boating awareness. The basic navigation pack is anchored by a 9-inch multi-function display (MFD) integrating VHF DSC, GPS, and depth/speed tracking capabilities, while an AIS transceiver is available as an optional add-on. Standard compulsory equipment and minimal safety lighting consist of an all-round white light, sidelights, a magnetic compass, a sound signal device, a VHF radio, and emergency flares.
