P649 REEF RUNNER 17
The Reefrunner 17 Pilot Vessel represents an expanded, high-velocity addition to KND’s pilotage lineup, specifically optimized to handle severe offshore conditions and guarantee safe pilot transfers. Constructed with a rugged, marine-grade aluminium planing hull and a matching aluminium enclosed wheelhouse, this substantial craft measures 17 meters in length overall with an expansive 4.84-meter beam and a surprisingly shallow 0.57-meter draft. Operating at a maximum full-load displacement of 16.56 tons, the platform complies with Grey Boat Code and Bureau Veritas classification standards. Designed around a single-day operational endurance basis, its spacious main deck layout accommodates a large 14-passenger complement in a fully protected cabin environment, supported by a 350-liter fresh water tank and a 98-liter waste water system.
Shifting away from conventional propellers, the Reefrunner 17 utilizes a high-performance twin Jet drive arrangement unleashing a massive 2,000 hp (2 x 1,000 hp) of installed power. This waterjet configuration provides exceptional maneuverability near ships and drives the vessel to a blistering maximum speed of 41 knots and a rapid cruising speed of 33.1 knots. Maintaining this cruise velocity results in a fuel burn rate of 286 liters per hour, drawing from an integrated 2,542-liter fuel capacity to deliver a total operational range of 264 nautical miles. Onboard electrical demands are managed via a dual 230 VAC and 48 VDC network, backed by a 2,690 Ah recommended house battery bank and an 8.4 kW / 10.5 kVA generator that easily sustains a heavy-duty 20,000 BTU/h air conditioning system.
All-weather mission control and crew situational awareness are directed by an advanced basic navigation pack centered on a premium 16-inch multi-function display (MFD). This core digital suite fully integrates VHF DSC, an AIS-B system, a 4 kW radar, an autopilot, a powerful 1 kW sonar, and a unifying NMEA2000 backbone. To ensure strict port authority compliance, the vessel comes standard with all compulsory maritime safety gear, including a magnetic compass, GPS/chartplotter, radar reflector, depth sounder, sound signaling devices, and emergency flares. As noted on the official datasheet, these technical specifications represent preliminary concept-level engineering estimates and remain subject to final design development.
