P744 | MOBILE CLINIC
The Medical Clinic 15 represents a vital advancement in mobile healthcare, specifically engineered by KND to bring professional medical services to remote river and inland communities. Built upon a 15.7-meter displacement hull of HDPE or aluminium, this vessel combines the stability required for delicate medical procedures with a shallow 0.50-meter draft that ensures access to the most difficult-to-reach waterways. Its architectural profile is defined by a clean, modern aesthetic, featuring an expansive glass-enclosed superstructure that prioritizes a sterile, light-filled environment while maintaining a professional presence.
The interior configuration is meticulously organized into a high-functioning mobile clinic, as highlighted by the clinical layout. The primary workspace is outfitted with specialized medical examination furniture, including ergonomic adjustable beds and integrated storage modules for essential supplies and diagnostic equipment. This internal space is maintained at optimal temperatures by a dual 20,000 BTU air conditioning system, ensuring a controlled environment for both patients and healthcare providers. Large panoramic windows wrap around the facility, providing natural light that enhances the visibility and comfort of the clinical area, while wide perimeter walkways allow for safe and efficient movement around the exterior of the craft.
Sustainability and reliability are central to the vessel’s mission of providing consistent care. The flat rooftop is utilized as a substantial solar farm, capturing renewable energy to support the 12V DC electrical system and its bank of four 200Ah batteries. This solar integration allows the clinic to operate its essential medical and climate control systems with reduced reliance on traditional fuel, although a 230 bhp Mercury outboard system and an optional genset provide the power and speed needed to transit between locations at up to 10 knots. The vessel is fully self-sufficient for extended missions, equipped with a 500-liter fresh water tank and a 1,000-liter waste water system.
Safety and precision navigation are handled by a professional suite of Garmin GPS, VHF radio, and EPIRB systems, ensuring the clinic remains connected and secure during rural deployments. Built to SAMSA and ISO standards, the Medical Clinic 15 is a robust, floating healthcare solution that can be further tailored with options like a lifting davit or additional room modules, making it an indispensable asset for regional health authorities and humanitarian missions seeking to expand their reach across aquatic networks.
