P627 | HURRICANE 43
The Hurricane 43 is a premier research vessel designed for long-duration maritime scientific missions. It is built with a robust steel displacement hull and an aluminium superstructure, providing a stable and durable platform for high-seas operations. Measuring 43.1 meters in length with an expansive 11.6-meter beam and a shallow 1.29-meter draft, the vessel has a maximum full-load displacement of 382.85 tons and is classified by Bureau Veritas.
Propulsion is delivered via a shaft and propeller arrangement powered by a total of 4,000 hp, enabling a maximum speed of 15.8 knots and a steady cruising speed of 25.8 km/h. Its significant 96,000-liter fuel capacity provides a substantial operational range of 2,849 nm. The Hurricane 43 is engineered for extended endurance, supporting a 48-person complement for up to 30 days at sea. Onboard capacities include 36,000 liters of fresh water and 10,080 liters of waste water.
The vessel’s advanced electrical and climate systems include a 79.4 kW/99.2 kVA genset, a 25,450 Ah house battery bank, and a high-capacity air conditioning system. Navigation and communication are handled by a professional suite featuring a 19-inch multi-function display, X and S-band radars, autopilot, sonar, and full GMDSS equipment, making it a highly capable asset for global research and exploration.
