The Shuttle 20 Transporter by KND is a commercial passenger ferry featuring an aluminium displacement hull and a matching aluminium wheelhouse superstructure. Designed for efficient passenger transit across coastal and inland waterways, this monohull vessel measures 20.0 meters in length overall with a 4.58-meter beam and a shallow 0.55-meter draft. Certified under CE and Bureau Veritas (BV) classification standards with HPi CE proof validation, the platform handles a maximum full-load displacement of 29.63 tons. The vessel features a high-capacity internal layout optimized to comfortably carry a 92-passenger complement on a single-day endurance baseline. Daily operations are supported by integrated fluid logistics tanks carrying 533 liters of fuel, 2,300 liters of fresh water, and 644 liters of waste water storage.
To satisfy differing regional operational demands, the platform offers two recommended traditional shaft and propeller propulsion configurations. The primary recommended layout is powered by twin 250 hp engines generating 500 hp of installed power, driving the ferry to a maximum and cruising speed of 10.8 knots. At this velocity, the system operates at a fuel burn rate of 60 liters per hour, yielding an operational range of 86 nautical miles. For transit routes prioritizing greater efficiency, the secondary recommended configuration utilizes twin 150 hp engines providing 300 hp of installed power. This lower-horsepower setup maintains the same 10.8-knot maximum and cruise speeds but drops the fuel burn rate to 36 liters per hour, which expands the vessel’s cruising range to 143 nautical miles.
The vessel’s extensive onboard electronics, domestic facilities, and climate control systems run on a dual 230 VAC and 24 VDC electrical power network. This grid is backed by a recommended 20,920 Ah house battery bank and a robust 32.6 kW / 40.8 KVA generator set, which powers a high-output 83,600 BTU/h air conditioning system to ensure a climate-controlled cabin environment. The bridge is equipped with an advanced navigation pack centered on a 16-inch multi-function display (MFD) integrated via a unifying NMEA2000 backbone with a VHF DSC radio, AIS-B++, a 4 kW radar, an autopilot, and a 1 kW sonar. Safe piloting is rounded out by a comprehensive array of compulsory maritime gear, including a masthead light, stern light, sidelights, a magnetic compass, a sound signaling device, emergency flares, navigation charts, a GPS chartplotter, AIS, radar, a depth sounder, and full GMDSS infrastructure. As noted in the KND documentation, these preliminary technical parameters represent concept-level estimates that remain subject to final design development and detailed engineering.
