P604 | SEASAVER 59
The Seasaver 59 Ambulance Vessel by KND is a large-scale, offshore medical support and hospital ship engineered for extensive patient transport, triage, and rescue operations. Moving away from the lighter alloy builds of the smaller rescue variants, this ship utilizes a heavy-duty steel displacement hull mated to an aluminium superstructure to maximize structural integrity and seakeeping stability in open ocean conditions. The vessel measures 59.0 meters in length overall with a wide 9.90-meter beam and a 3.90-meter draft, operating at a maximum full-load displacement of 140 tons under Bureau Veritas classification. Designed to sustain a large 50-person complement, its expansive deck layout features a dedicated aft helipad to facilitate rapid, ship-to-shore emergency helicopter evacuations.
Long-range endurance and reliable propulsion are delivered by a conventional shaft and propeller configuration driven by heavy-duty marine engines from Caterpillar, Baudouin, or MTU, unleashing a combined 6,000 bhp. This powertrain drives the large vessel to a maximum speed of 18 knots and a steady cruising speed of 16 knots. Supported by an immense 50,000-liter fuel capacity, the ship achieves a commanding operational range of 1,039 nautical miles at cruising speed. To sustain the medical crew and patients during multi-day operations at sea, the hull accommodates significant liquid storage capacities, including 10,000 liters of fresh water and 5,000 liters of waste water.
The vessel’s extensive clinical facilities and onboard hardware rely on a 48V electrical power supply supported by a robust 100.3 KVA generator set, which effortlessly runs a full air conditioning system to maintain a strictly climate-controlled medical environment. Advanced navigation and maritime situational awareness are directed by a digital suite centered on a 16-inch multi-function display (MFD), fully integrated with VHF DSC, AIS-B++, a 4 kW radar, an autopilot, a 1 kW sonar, and a unifying NMEA2000 backbone. For deployment into high-risk areas or specialized defense-support roles, the platform can be further customized with optional extras such as ballistic protection, a Remote Weapon Station Machine Gun (RWS MG), ICAF anti-fouling systems, and extended communication arrays.
