P744 | CLASSROOM 15

The Classroom 15 is a 15.7-meter specialized floating platform designed by KND for education and discovery missions on river and inland waterways. This vessel utilizes a stable displacement hull constructed from either HDPE or aluminium, paired with a robust aluminium wheelhouse. Built to SAMSA and ISO standards, it features a 5.07-meter beam and a very shallow 0.50-meter draft, allowing it to navigate sensitive or shallow river environments with ease. Its maximum full-load displacement is 15,000 kg, and it is powered by a 230 bhp Mercury four-stroke outboard engine system that provides a maximum speed of 10 knots and a steady cruising speed of 8 knots.

The configuration of this range is specifically tailored for a group learning environment, as seen in its architectural design. The main superstructure is a modern, glass-enclosed cabin that maximizes natural light and provides an immersive connection to the surrounding environment through floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows. Inside this expansive space, the layout is organized into a professional classroom setting, featuring neat rows of contemporary wooden tables and ergonomic seating designed to accommodate a larger group of students or researchers. This internal space is fully climate-controlled by two 20,000 BTU air conditioning units, ensuring a comfortable learning atmosphere regardless of external weather conditions.

Sustainability is a core component of the Classroom 15, with the flat roof of the cabin serving as a mounting platform for an extensive array of solar panels. These panels feed into a 12V DC power system supported by four 200Ah batteries, which provides clean energy for onboard lighting and educational equipment, while a 24V AC shore power connection and an optional genset offer additional reliability. The roof also doubles as an elevated observation deck, providing a secondary vantage point for field studies or scenic viewing.

Practicality and safety are maintained through wide perimeter walkways that allow safe passage around the exterior of the cabin. The vessel is equipped with a professional navigation and safety suite, including a Garmin GPS, VHF radio, compass, and an EPIRB. To support operations over multiple days, it includes a 500-liter fresh water tank and a 1,000-liter waste water system. Similar to the rest of the range, the platform can be further customized with optional extras like a lifting davit, a jet ski platform, or even a sunbathing trampoline at the bow to suit various educational or recreational program needs.
